Privacy Policy — KomMeter
Last updated: August 3, 2026
This Privacy Notice for Foleks Apps ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our mobile application KomMeter ("the App," "Services"), a tracker for utility meters, tariffs and payments.
If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at apps@foleks.com.
Summary of Key Points
- Does the App send data to any server? No. The App operates entirely offline. Every meter reading, tariff, bill, payment and receipt photo is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server or cloud service.
- Do we use analytics or advertising? No. The App contains no analytics SDKs, no crash reporting, no tracking tools and no advertising frameworks.
- Do we require an account? No. There is no registration, no sign-in and no user account of any kind.
- Do we process any sensitive personal information? No.
- Do we collect any information from third parties? No.
1. What Information Do We Collect?
Personal Information You Disclose to Us
In Short: We collect nothing. The information you enter stays on your device.
We do not receive any personal information from you. The information you enter into the App — the name and address of a property, meter readings, serial numbers, tariffs, bill details, payments and comments — is written to a database inside the App's private storage on your device. We have no access to it.
Sensitive Information. We do not process sensitive information.
Application Data
The App may use the following device capabilities if you choose to grant permission. Every one of them is optional: the App remains fully usable with all of them denied, because anything they produce can also be typed in by hand.
Camera
The CAMERA permission is used for three optional features:
- Scanning a meter dial. The camera image is analysed on your device by an offline text-recognition model bundled with the App (Google ML Kit, on-device edition). Frames are processed in memory and discarded; no photo of a meter is saved or sent anywhere. You always confirm or correct the recognised number before it is stored.
- Scanning a payment QR code printed on a utility receipt, to fill in the bank details of a bill. The barcode is decoded on your device by the same offline library. Nothing is transmitted.
- Photographing a receipt to attach it to a payment. The photo is copied into the App's private storage on your device.
The recognition models ship inside the App and work with no internet connection. No image ever leaves your device.
Photo Library
You may attach an existing photo of a receipt to a payment, or recognise a meter reading from a photo you already have. In both cases the file you pick is read on your device only. The App requests access to the picture you select through the system picker; it does not browse or index your gallery.
Microphone
The RECORD_AUDIO permission powers optional voice entry of a meter reading. Speech recognition is performed by the speech service built into your Android device. Depending on your device and its settings, that system service may process the audio in the cloud under Google's own privacy policy — this is the standard Android dictation you already use elsewhere. The App itself neither records, stores nor transmits audio; it receives only the recognised text and extracts a number from it. If you prefer not to use the system speech service, do not grant the microphone permission and enter readings by hand.
Notifications and Exact Alarms
The App uses local notifications to remind you to take readings, to pay bills, to warn you that a meter verification date is approaching, and to report the result of a scheduled backup. POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+) and SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM (Android 12+) are requested for this. Notifications are generated entirely on your device; no push service is involved and nothing is sent over the network. RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED is used only to re-register your reminders after the device restarts.
Torch
The camera flash may be switched on to light up a meter dial while you enter a reading. No image is captured for this.
Files and Folders
To save a backup, to export readings to a CSV file, or to import data from another application, the App asks you to choose a file or a folder through the Android system picker. The App receives access only to what you explicitly select. Backups, exports and imports are ordinary files under your control: you decide where they are stored, who they are shared with, and when they are deleted. We never see them.
Data Storage and Security
KomMeter operates entirely offline. All your data — properties, meters, services, readings, tariffs, formulas, bills, payments, receipt photos, reminders and settings — is stored locally on your device in the App's private storage. We operate no servers that collect, store or process your personal data. The App contains no analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs.
Backup files are created locally and are under your full control. If you copy a backup to cloud storage, an e-mail or a messenger yourself, that copy is then governed by the privacy policy of the service you chose.
2. How Do We Process Your Information?
In Short: We do not process your information at all; the App processes it locally to do its job.
Since the App operates entirely offline and transmits nothing, processing is limited to the local operations described in Section 1: calculating consumption and amounts due, drawing charts, producing printouts and export files, and showing reminders.
3. When and With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?
In Short: We do not share your personal information with any third parties.
Because the App transmits no data to external servers, your information is never shared with advertisers, analytics providers or any other external entity. The only circumstances in which information leaves your device are the ones you initiate yourself: sharing an export file, sending a backup, or handing a document to the Android print service. The only situation where your information might be transferred by us is:
- Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.
4. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?
In Short: For as long as the App is installed, and no longer.
All data is stored locally on your device for as long as the App is installed. When you uninstall the App, all locally stored data — including receipt photos — is automatically removed by the operating system. You can also delete individual records, meters, properties or the whole journal within the App at any time.
If you create backup or export files, those files remain where you put them until you delete them manually.
5. Do We Collect Information From Minors?
In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to such minor dependent's use of the Services. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age has been collected, we will take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 18, please contact us at apps@foleks.com.
6. What Are Your Privacy Rights?
In Short: You may review, change, or terminate your use of the App at any time.
Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent by:
- Revoking specific permissions (camera, microphone, notifications) in your device's system settings.
- Deleting your data within the App — individual readings, meters, properties, bills, payments or receipt photos.
- Uninstalling the App, which removes all locally stored data.
- Contacting us at apps@foleks.com.
However, please note that withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
If you have questions or comments about your privacy rights, you may email us at apps@foleks.com.
7. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. Since the App does not connect to the internet and does not track your online activities, DNT signals are not applicable.
8. Do We Make Updates to This Notice?
In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Notice. If we make material changes, we may notify you by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this Privacy Notice frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
9. How Can You Contact Us About This Notice?
If you have questions or comments about this notice, you may email us at apps@foleks.com.
10. How Can You Review, Update, or Delete the Data We Collect From You?
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times:
- Review, edit or delete any property, meter, service, reading, tariff, bill, payment or receipt photo directly within the App.
- Export your readings to a CSV file or create a full backup at any time, so your data is never locked inside the App.
- Manage App permissions through your device's system settings.
- Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data.
If you have additional questions, please contact us at apps@foleks.com.
